Located on the federally designated “Wild and Scenic” Taunton River, Berkley was named for George Berkeley, an Irish philosopher and bishop.
Berkley is the home of the mysterious, petroglypch-covered Writing Rock, now known as Dighton Rock. Dighton Rock State Park provides shade trees, picnic tables, a museum, and access to the Taunton. Berkley is also home to a well-loved and insanely good pizza joint.
