SRPEDD’s transportation team provides planning support for our local Regional Transit Authorities and champions connections with neighboring state and transit agencies to ensure a better-connected transportation network.
The Transportation Team at SRPEDD offers planning support with our local Regional Transit Authorities. Through this partnership, we work to improve public transit connections within our region and beyond. In Southeastern Massachusetts, we have buses, passenger rail, airports, and ferries. Public transit connects our neighbors to healthcare, careers, school, social services, food, parks, and loved ones.
GATRA oversees operations of fixed-route, and/or on-demand bus services in the cities and the towns of:
All 28 member communities have demand response (Dial-A-Ride) services for people with disabilities and seniors.
The Southeastern Regional Transit Authority (SRTA) provides fixed route and demand response service to residents of Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Fall River, Freetown, Mattapoisett, New Bedford, Somerset, Swansea, and Westport. SRTA also offers a Demand Response Service that is available to persons with a disability. Medical shuttles to Boston leave from New Bedford on Tuesdays and Fall River on Thursdays.
Mobility Management is about working to meet the transit needs of community members. This is done through collaborating with cities/towns, organizations, transit providers, and community members to understand unmet transportation needs, and how to sustain a more connected region for all.
