The Transportation Planning Department at SRPEDD helps with many different transportation problems.
This department helps towns that are part of SRPEDD when they ask for it. They work on transportation problems that don't need a big study. These problems can include:
- Counting cars using data equipment
- Making streets safer for people
- Checking if a traffic light is needed
- Checking how fast cars are going
- Making it easier to walk and bike
- Managing how people get to places
These projects usually use information that is already available or that doesn't take much time to collect. The department writes a letter and/or report for the town that explains the problem and suggests simple, inexpensive ways to fix it. Towns can ask for help by filling out a form online.
Usually, this help is free for the town because it is paid for by SRPEDD's transportation budget. But if the town needs extra help, like a police officer, the town will have to pay for that.
