Lakeville is named for the chain of broad and beautiful lakes.
Assawompset Pond, Great Quittacas Pond, Little Quittacas Pond, Pocksha Pond, and Long Pond occupy a large portion of the town’s area. On the shoreline of Assawompset Pond, the town-owned Betty’s Neck Conservation Area is a perfect snapshot of Lakeville: it’s nestled in among neighborhoods and cranberry bogs and offers miles of hiking trails through forests, shorelines, and active agriculture.
