Raynham was founded by Elizabeth Pole, the first woman to found a town in America.
Its Borden Colony Recreation Area offers tennis courts, soccer fields, short track bike racing, and events, such as annual T.O.P.I.C. PowWow and Raynham Community Pride Day. Johnson Pond provides fishing, picnic tables, benches, and parking for scenic views. Raynham is also home to Wat Nawamintatarachutis Buddhist Meditation Center (the largest Thai Buddhist Temple outside of Thailand) and one of the best BBQ shacks north of the Mason-Dixon line.
