In 1905, Plainville officially separated from Wrentham to become its own municipality.
It is home to Lake Mirimichi, a 170-acre reservoir with fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. Plainville also hosts the Plainridge Park Casino, a harness racing track and slot machine parlor that provides dining and entertainment for the region. Named for the abundance of geographical plains in the area, Plainville is a beautiful snapshot small-town New England less than ten miles from Gillette Stadium.
