Taunton, once the center of the state’s silver industry, is still known as “Silver City” today.
Its picturesque Downtown is centered on Taunton Green, which is featured on the National Register of Historic Places and has experienced a recent renaissance. The Weir Village Riverfront Park sits astride the federally designated “Wild and Scenic” Taunton River just outside of Downtown on West Water Street. Massasoit State Park offers more than 1,200 acres, six lakes and ponds, and cranberry bogs. Taunton also offers the Old Colony History Museum, a live music venue at the District Center for the Arts, and the Taunton Civic Chorus. Taunton is proud to host Myles Standish Industrial Park, the largest, most successful publicly-owned business park in New England.
