Emerging Transportation Technology

SRPEDD assists communities in planning for emerging transportation technologies, including cleaner vehicle fleets, public charging and fueling infrastructure, and equitable access as the region transitions toward zero-emission and autonomous vehicles.

SRPEDD is committed to planning for zero emission vehicles.

Transportation is changing quickly. New options like electric vehicles, e-bikes/scooters, ride sharing, and automated vehicles are shaping how people travel in our region.
This page provides resources to help communities in Southeastern Massachusetts understand new transportation technologies. Some make it easier to get around, lower costs, and reduce pollution. Others may change how streets, parking, and public spaces are used.
SRPEDD helps our cities and towns in planning for these changes. We support communities as they think about safety, access, and how new technology fits local needs. This work includes planning for charging stations, improving bike and pedestrian connections, and exploring shared transportation options.
