The BPAC will provide a forum for people from across Southeastern Massachusetts to help inform regional bicycle and pedestrian planning activities and advise SRPEDD staff on opportunities to improve active transportation planning and coordination throughout the region.
SRPEDD Seeking Applicants for New Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee
The Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District (SRPEDD) is seeking applications for membership on a new regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC). The BPAC will provide a forum for people from across Southeastern Massachusetts to help inform regional bicycle and pedestrian planning activities and advise SRPEDD staff on opportunities to improve active transportation planning and coordination throughout the region. The committee will help advance the goals and recommendations identified in the Regional Bicycle Plan and Regional Pedestrian Plan, while providing ongoing input on emerging bicycle, pedestrian, trail, accessibility, and active transportation issues. The Committee is expected to meet quarterly, or on an as-needed basis depending on member availability and interest.
Who should apply?
SRPEDD is seeking applicants who can bring a diverse range of experiences, perspectives, and areas of expertise to the BPAC. Transportation planning experience is not required. Applicants may include people who regularly walk, bike, use public transit, or otherwise rely on active transportation, as well as representatives of municipalities, public agencies, community organizations, advocacy groups, and relevant professions.
SRPEDD particularly encourages applications from individuals who can contribute perspectives that have historically been underrepresented in transportation planning, including people with disabilities or accessibility needs, older adults, youth and families, low-income communities, racial and ethnic minority communities, people with limited English proficiency, transit riders, and people who do not drive or have limited access to a personal vehicle.
The BPAC will also seek participation from individuals involved in transportation planning and engineering, public works and maintenance, public health and human services, education and childcare, transit and transportation services, business and economic development, environmental conservation, parks, recreation, and trails, and bicycle, pedestrian, trail, and active transportation organizations.
Applicants from SRPEDD’s 27-community region are encouraged to apply, including residents and individuals who work, study, provide services, or are otherwise involved in communities within Southeastern Massachusetts.

Following the application period, SRPEDD staff will review applications with the goal of establishing a committee that reflects the geographic, demographic, professional, and transportation-user diversity of the region.
