SRPEDD Announces a 21-day Public Comment Period with a Virtual Public Meeting on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 4:00 pm to hear comments on funding changes for a Raynham- Taunton Bridge Replacement project programmed on the 2026-2030 TIP.
June 17, 2026 – The Southeastern Massachusetts Metropolitan Planning Organization (SMMPO)’s FFY2026-2030 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is being amended to program additional funds for Project 613642, the Raynham-Taunton Bridge Replacement at South Street East over the Taunton River. This bridge replacement project was already programmed for construction in 2026 on the FFY2026-2030 TIP cycle using federal discretionary earmark funds. There was a gap in funding between the amount covered by the earmark and total cost of the project, and this amendment proposes to fill the funding gap by programming $2,049,018 of statewide Surface Transportation Block Grant funds toward the project.
The SMMPO conducts the federally required metropolitan transportation planning process for 27 Southeastern Massachusetts communities and is one of Massachusetts’ thirteen Metropolitan Planning Organizations. All of this work helps support the region’s 27 communities toward building a safer, and more accessible, connected, reliable, and resilient transportation system for all mode users.
Proposed FFY2026-2030 TIP Amendment #7 will have a 21-day public comment period and has been conditionally endorsed by the SMMPO at its June 16th meeting in the case that no opposing comments are received during the comment period. A public meeting to discuss these topics will be held virtually on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 4:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, ask questions and offer comments, but attendance is not necessary to offer input or comment. More options to offer comments can be found below.
