SRPEDD Announces a 21-day Public Comment Period and Public Meeting for an Amendment to the FFY2018-2022 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) concerning the Fall River - Route 79/Davol Street project being moved into FFY2018 and the awarding of grants to SRTA, GATRA and communities through the Community Transit Grant Program.

October 17, 2017 -- An amendment has been proposed to the FFY2018-2022 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and the amended document is being released for a 21-day public comment period. The TIP is the programming document listing all federally funded road and bridge projects in the region and all transit projects for both the Southeastern Regional Transit Authority (SRTA) and the Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA). The TIP lists all projects in the 27 SRPEDD communities to be funded through the year 2022.

The amendment involves two changes to the FFY2018 of the TIP. The first change is moving the Fall River - Route 79/Davol Street project into FFY2018. The second is the addition of grants awarded to SRTA, GATRA and the communities of Somerset, Marion, Fairhaven, and Westport through the Community Transit Grant Program. These funds will be amended into FFY2018 transit project list. Eligible recipients of this grant include Regional Transit Authorities, municipalities, Councils on Aging, and eligible nonprofit organizations in Massachusetts. This grant provides funds for vans and mini-buses and for operating and mobility management projects.

A public meeting to hear comments and concerns on these amendments will be held at SRPEDD, located at 88 Broadway, Taunton, MA on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 4 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The proposed amended TIP items can be found on SRPEDD’s website at www.srpedd.org for review. The amended document will become final on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 or when approved by the SMMPO at the next meeting. Comments are encouraged and may be offered by a variety of methods including:
